USF Choir Travels to Italy

Last December, the University of Sioux Falls Concert Chorale traveled across the Atlantic with a passion to share their talents and love for music with others around the globe.

“Activites varied from city tours to singing in very famous cathedrals. As well as some of them took gondola rides, and museums and other things” says Fine Arts Public Relations Coordinator Brittany Hanson.

The choir traveled their way up north from the city of Rome while exploring through the streets of many other places, including Asese, Sienna, Florence, and Venice.

“Well, I definitely made a lot more friends than I had before, and I talked to people that I never would have talked to before, and created a lot of great friendships there” says USF Student Rachel Ottenbacher.

Together, they performed in some of the world’s most famous churches and basilicas, along with several impromptu performances along the streets.

“It is a huge priority to the USF Music Department and the University of Sioux Falls as a whole to use the globe as our classroom” says Hanson.

Having the opportunity to explore a new culture has left students with new perspectives and a great love for the world beyond their country.
