USF Football vs. Bemidji State

USF Football is back at it again, this time with a close win of 37-36 over nationally ranked Bemidji State.

The USF Football Team took on nationally ranked Bemidji State on Saturday, It was an amazing sight to see when USF came back after Bemidji had been dominant throughout the beginning of the game. The score was 3-20 for the 2nd quarter of the game as Bemidji State was taking the lead and by the 3rd quarter USF climbed its way to the top leaving the score 37-30 by the end of the quarter. Leading up to the game, Assistant Defense Coach Luke Jarzynka and Tight End Clint Sigg share on the night of the game.

“We knew it was going to be a huge game. It was a night game and we were doing the black out with our uniforms and so they were someone we had to play really well to beat them.” Says Jarzynka.

Sigg also mentions how they knew it was going to be a big game going into it, but the focus was to have control and stay the same throughout. When the beginning of the game wasn’t going well and Siggs says, “I mean obviously we were down a little bit and we just didn’t let that get to us at all.”

Jarzynka says, “Their quarterback is someone who is preseason all-conference… So we kind of knew the type of players they had, at least offensively and then defensively they had a freshman last year who lead the conference and interceptions. He’s coming back and his brother is joining the team, so just a lot of really good big football players. So we knew we had a heck of a challenge.”

Even though the team was done at half time, they found a way to come out and win the game on a defensive stop in the last play.

“I didn’t think it would come down to that but when it did I was just standing there with, I think it was Luke and somebody else and we just, we were actually holding hands just watching the play and I know a lot of the guys were turning away and not looking.” Says Sigg.

“The way the ball popped out and the guy’s knee came down, I don’t know you know maybe Mary was out there playing.” Says Jarzynka.
