The USF Home Opener

Story by Theodore Frid

The USF Track and Field team hosted their first meet of the season on Sunday, April 10th. The team performed well under cold and windy weather conditions. In the past USF hasn’t hosted very many home meets. The school was excited to finally compete here in Sioux Falls.

“The Coo family [was]  just hanging out and bonding, it was a great experience. It was entertaining to watch, and [there was] a lot of positive energy. It was a fun meet.”, said Christian Mueller.

The USF Track and Field team performed well despite the adverse conditions. The team brought home five first place finishes, and several great performances all around.

“It’s always a mental shift. I think some people handle it better than others, but I think it’s super important to embrace the elements”, said senior vaulter Jagger Gran.

“All of the events had people from our team cheering for each other. That’s one of our team goals, to cheer for three different event groups.”, said Sophie Harano.

The USF Open brought in plenty of supporters and fans. The Coo will be competing in Sioux City, Iowa next weekend, seeking more great performances.
