Track is off and Running
With the end of Winter, that means that Spring is here and so is the 2018 USF Track and Field season.
The USF men’s and women’s track and field teams wrapped up the 2018 indoor track season on a very successful note.
“We had our indoor season and we finished tied for third on the men’s side in our conference, and our women were sixth place indoors,” track and field head coach Doug Petersen says.
The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) preseason power rankings were released recently. USF’s past success reflected in those rankings.
“Preseason polls, they picked USF to finish fourth on the men’s side and women were projected to finish sixth, based on the indoor season,” Petersen says. “I think Mankato State and University of Mary were indoor champions ranking them higher.”
USF traveled to Maryville, Missouri just on April 5th and had a great showing for the first outdoor meet of the year.
“Our men and our women both placed 2nd! It was an exciting start for us in the outdoor season, especially after having two meets cancelled by the weather already,” Petersen says.
USF will travel to Kansas for the Kansas Relays on Thursday, April 19th.
