Madrigals: A Blast From the Past

Story by Nataile Lingenfelter

This past week, students involved in choir put on the 52nd annual Madrigal dessert show for the public and student body. The Madgrical dinner is one of USF’s longest traditions.

Lois Harchanko was hired in 1961 and taught through 2008. Lois Harchanko is also a USF Madrigals legend for starting the show.

On December 2nd, the choir put on a special dessert show for the USF student body. December 3rd through 5th is when the show is open to the public. To attend a show, tickets cost $40.

“The cost of tickets go towards Choral touring,” says Dr. DeHoogh Kliewer, the USF Choal director.

On December 28th, the choir departs for their tour which starts in Prague. The choir will travel throughout Austria and Germany.

Dr. DK says, “It’s a wonderful opportunity for students to perform.”

While touring, the students will have the opportunity to study the history and culture of other countries.

“It’s a way of using the globe as our classroom,” says Dr. DK.
