Gender Issues – Movies
Hannah Linder, a sophomore, shared her views on how women are treated in movies.
She said that she thinks women have minor roles, when it comes to heroism.
“They’re still kind of the dainty house wife, you know lots of drama and problems,” Linder said.
She said that she thinks there is an issue with how body image is portrayed for women in media.
“You know we’re not all 5’5’’ and blonde, and petite, and so I think that is an issue when it comes to T.V. and movies,” Linder said.
Linder said that she would like to see more diverse body images in movies.
She also said that she would like to see more women in the role of the hero. Linder cited the Hunger Games movies and Divergent as examples of movies where women are the heroes.
“I think a lot of people enjoy those movies, not just girls,” Linder said.
